The Namgu Choir was founded in 1993 for the purpose of advancing culture and the arts on a local level as well as to give Nam-gu residents the emotional benefits of a cultural lifestyle. The choir was given the status of a district (gu) artistic organization on January 10, 1998 in accordance with the Operational Ordinance on the Establishment of a Cultural/Artistic Organization in Nam-gu. The Namgu Choir is currently operated by the Daedeok Cultural Center.
